The most significant cost is in the proprietary gigabit serial link from the 
host system to the remote box.

Other than that, the entire remote box is pretty much off-the-shelf ATX stuff 
... not even of the best quality.

That being said, the concept does work, and you can install, say, an UATA/66 
card and hard drives in the remote box and boot off of the attached devices.
