All the vendors and developers state that APPLE has openly refused to
provide certain pieces of information that are needed for USB 2.x
support to function on a Power Macintosh under Mac OS 8.1 through Mac OS
9.2.2.

Therefore, it certainly is quite possible for USB 2.x drivers or USB 2.x
Extension and/or Control Panels to enable function under Mac OS, IF
either APPLE's data is ever available and/or if users figure out other
ways to do it apart from APPLE.

However, APPLE again wants to force everyone to get all new machines and
only run OS X, not Mac OS.

It isn't the Mac, but the OS, that doesn't support USB 2.0. (No one has
provided drivers...) I believe the documentation on the USB 2.0 cards
will say they are backwards compatible with 1.1 and that they should
work as a 1.1 card under OS 9. Check the vendor's for verification.

My understanding is that I can't use USB 2.0 with a PCI Powermac. Is
that correct? I've got an 8600/G4, and I currently run USB off a PCI
card. I
want to add Firewire, so I've been looking for a USB/Firewire card.
Mostly what I'm finding are USB 2.0/Firewire cards. Is that a problem?
Any
USB/Firewire cards out there that are good for my computer?
