SCSI has to be terminated on each physical end of the SCSI chain. Typically 
this means at the motherboard and at the far end of the cable. If you are 
*replacing* the stock drive, and it is not terminated, use no jumpers on 
J1. If the existing drive *is* terminated, then place the jumpers as you 
have illustrated.

Regarding SCSI ID, for ID 0, no jumpers. If other than ID 0, jumper per the 
spec sheet reproduced on thetechpage site. In answer to your question about 
"why?", because that's how Apple SCSI works.  If you desire to learn more
