Most likely it is because they need the Open Transport that came with OS 8.5 and greater, which supported Client ID; you may be able to graft that into the 8.1 system, or possibly the 7.6, but why fuss? Go get a cable/DSL router at Best Buy or CompUSA or Circuit City or wherever for about $50-$70, plug the cable into that, and your computers into the cable router. Configure the cable router (all the ones I've seen are configured via a web browser) and you're set. They come with 4 switched ethernet 10/100 ports these days, and you can get them with 8. *Much* simpler solution: just plug-n-play. > -- "Wherever you go, there you are." - B.
