I posted a question to the PCI PM list a couple weeks ago re a n NEC 5 port USB 2.0 card. My question was "will it work on my 8500?"
Someone responded saying that as long as it was OHCI compliant that it would work. Well I ended up purchasing a similar 2 port 2.0 USB card (with NEC chipset) on eBay and the card was described as "NEW PCI USB 2.0 CARD 2 Ports for MAC or PC". I installed the card and USB Card Adapter Support 1.4.1 and all software and drivers for my Fuji Finepix 3800 digital camera and USB zip. Nothing works. My system seems to see the card but only gives the card name as "pci 3083, e0" and vendor ID as "1033". Nothing else. I searched all specs on the card and 8500 and found the card says "32-bit 33 Mhz host interface compliant to PCI specification release 2.2". The 8500 PCI 2.0 specification. Golly, could this be the problem? Backwards compatibility...Yes? No? Mike -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
