I'd never heard that before. The fastest 9600 pre-Mach V used a 604e/233.  What
is the difference between adding a 604e/233 and adding a G3/G4? The 300/350
were the Mach V versions, (250 on for the 8600) which used a daughter card
incompatible with the earlier MBs. I've used the 604e/233 in 7500 MBs on.
