Re: Burning music CD's from vinyl My 2 cents worth:
I do this all the time. Felt tip sound studio is the best app I found so far for doing this, taking those old LPs to Cd. I do 1/2 an LP at a time, go back and split up the individual songs, save as .aif and burn via toast. FTSS also has alot of other functions as well. If you dont have the RCA audio in jacks on your comp, go to radio shack and get a 2 into one RCA connector and the adaptor from RCA to the mic in size and use your mic in jack - don't forget to set your sound preferences via the sound control panel. ALWAYS start with your volume(output) from the input device set VERY LOW or you may damage your computer permanently, especially if using the mic input. Also if you're just doing this for home use or anyone reading this thread that now wants to try it - I would forgo all the high dollar turn tables and stylus, etc. that's for you DJ's and Club mixers. Here's Tom's budget advice: best buy sells a very nice sony turntable that list for $100. But here's the catch: everyone one (customers) keeps opening the boxes to look at the turntables before buying them and then grabs a closed box to purchase. This leaves best buy stuck with a whole bunch of open boxed turntables that they have to sell at an open box discount. I picked up the last 2 I got for $55 & $60 (with full warr) - both work great. They also have a built in preamp that can be turned on or off with a switch under the turn table pad. I personally didn't want to spend alot on a turntable to record LP's that were getting dumped at the salvation army when I was done. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
