It is your Finder file (not prefs) that has become corrupt and you will 
need to do a clean install. Opening in RESEDIT may fix it, but not 
completely.
Some files that do this are: ~ATM CP, and Epson Launcher, an extension 
which should be trashed immediately after installing any Epson printer 
software, unless you are trying to print over a network with it.
