Well, here goes then. My PM 9500 rarely ever crashes or freezes, but when it does, 95% of the time I'm on the 'net with IE5. Stopped using Netscape years ago when I tried IE and was amazed at how much faster pages loaded (can't remember if Netscape seemed stable or not). IE might run for a few hours trouble-free, maybe, but almost invariably, it will take down the hardware. And I run it with lots and lots of memory, so that shouldn't be an issue (right?) But even with just the 'perferred' amount of memory, it just doesn't seem to matter. The longer I use it, the closer I get to a crash. However, I have to point out that when I surf with my Wallstreet, running OS9.2.2 and 192 MB of memory, I don't remember it EVER crashing, with IE or anything else. Is it just me, or do laptops (Apple, specifically; don't give a d*** about the others) more stable than desktops? This has always been my observation over the past many years. Anyone? I'm really wondering about this! Is it 9.2? My older PB1400 had much less memory and 8.6 but it too seemed very stable (but very slow) when surfing the web. Are laptops naturally more stable? ---Alex -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
