Kind of veering off topic, but according to the Hardware Developer Notes for the ANS, the ANS uses the same type of cache as the 8500. I'm willing to find out that Apple's documentation is wrong--it wouldn't be the first time. But that's what the HDN says. The RAM is parity in the ANS, but one can use non-parity DIMMs just like the x500 machines use. However, performance is somewhat reduced.
