Please 'splain something to me...

Are people normally in the habit of opening attachments from e-mail addresses
that they do not recognize? AFAIK, the only way/best way viruses and bugs are
transmitted is by using attachments. I receive unsolicited/unrecognized
attachments almost DAILY, and I never open them, not because of infection
fears (I use a MAc anyway!) but simply because I do not know what it is
concerning and I do NOT need more D*MN ads for crock-pots or male organ
enhancements (Hey, I use AOL!).

..and with a filename like "filename cotter.dat.scr", I would be wary anyway!

But please inform me... I can see businesses probably needing to open almost
every attachment they receive, but am I just over-cautious or what?
