The 6500 logic board should fit in the 6200 chassis. Depending on how
hard you tax the powersupply, it could get a bit warm. The higherspeed
processor and potential needs of the PCI bus consume more power.

I got d also the power supply from a 6400, what do you mean with " how
hard you tax the powersupply" it could get a bit warm", does that mean
I can regulate how fast the processor runs. Is that old fan from the
6200 strong enough to handle the new task?

The PCI slot can readily handle a USB card (I have a "generic" one in
my 6500).

Can I connect directly in the pci slot a USB card or do I need a 1 slot
pci riser card?

I have a NewerTech G3/400 card in a 6360 (same chassis as the 6200)
and it works well. Had to nibble away a small portion of the bracket
holding the drive support rack due to interference with the NewerTech
heat
sink, but it was a small thing.

It's now clear for me that ta G3 upgrade goes in the L2 cache slot,
thanks Josh.

If you are used to the video system of the 6200, you will be rather
impressed with the "built-in" video (ATI Rage, if I recallcorrectly).

Didn't use the video system in the 6200, still would like to know what
capabilities I have with this 6500 mobo on video.

Enjoy.

Ken

Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.

Thanks
Franz
