My opinion (and I'm sure you will get differing ones) is that since the 6500 is only a 603 chip, it really will be slow on 9 unless it has an upgrade card. I would stick with 8.1 - 8.6 The 7100 has a 601 chip and might be able to handle it but it is still an older chip. This one takes a nubus card which you can get on eBay for $89.
