I've recently picked up a Pismo to use as my main Mac, replacing
my 8500. The 8500 is reasonably nicely spec'd out (140MB RAM, disks
totalling 24GB), and was previously my main mac. I'm trying to figure
out what I can do with the thing, now. It's pretty loud, especially when
I crank up the external Atlas drive, and just isn't as convenient to use
as a desktop as the Pismo is. Something that would put the thing out in
the shop with my other server would be ideal, to avoid the
747-taking-off sound of it. I've already got a server that handles my
mail and web hosting, so that's out. Does anyone have any other ideas of
what I can use this for?
The other option, of course, would be to give it away to a
friend of mine who writes on her 8500. Her's doesn't have as much memory
or disk space, so she'd probably get some decent use out of it.
Thanks,
Jim Anderson
