Oddly, you may find that OS 8.x just doesn't work well on your computer. OS 8.6, which ran almost flawlessly (or, as flawlessly as any pre-X Mac OS can run) on my 6100 and 7100's, kept on giving me niggly hang-ups on my 7600/G3 hybrid. OS 9.x works MUCH better. I've had none of the problems 8.6 kept on giving me.... Other than, after adding more memory, having my AudioVision 14 Display black out and sound off. (Because of the coincidence of timing - simultaneous with my memory upgrade - I thought I'd fried the mobo video, because my PCI video for my main monitor - a KDS Xtremeflat - worked fine. But no. The monitor is indeed dead. Just strange and crappy timing.... My explanation for Mac Hell is "sometimes crappy things happen, and they're as inexplicable as the evil on Buffy the Vampire Slayer." - t "I know . . . I know . . .
