Perhaps one of the reasons for this is the various "National Labs" (Lawrence Livermore NL, Lawrence Berkeley NL, Los Alamos NL, etcetera, etcetera, etcetrera) are currently purging their IT equipment pools of pre-B&W machines, and pallets-full of 8600s, 9600s and Beiges are being sold-off for pennies on the dollar. I bought a few 9600s (both 200MPs and 350s), a few Beige MTs (333s with UW-SCSI) and one Beige DT (266) for $50 for the DT, $75 for the 9600s and $100 for the MTs. Since these machines come from high-security sites, you can expect the hard drives to be missing (and, unfortunately, their carriers as well), and often any media drive to be missing, too ... even floppy drives (and, especially, tape drives, after the Win Ho Lee witch hunt). Still, $50 for a Beige G3/266 DT (Rev. 3C) isn't bad. -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
