I have 288meg of memory and I have tried capturing with both Apple Video Player, and Avid VideoShop 3 with similar results. > You also don't mention the amount of compression I would expect they used a minimum of compression because I asked each system to capture at the best quality if there was a choice, and asked Toast for the best Video when it asked. I was able to try both 22k and 44k audio in the Toast Dialog. (the final file at 22 was slightly smaller and not noticably worse audio.) > what was the scene... A harshly lighted backdrop (hot cyan wash from the stage lights) with dance recital kids in a spotlight and flood light wash. They are not moving a great deal but their little feet and arms do flail a little. I agree not the best lighting conditions but the VHS analog version is agreeable. Even a 2nd generation dub of the scene while deminished is still agreeable, and I only hoped to have the VCD version would be likewise. > How much space did the original captured footage > take? The raw video capture for the 7 minutes was over 800 meg. > What I would do is rent or buy a commercial VCD ... watch them to see what kind of quality you can > expect out of them. I know it will not be better than VHS but I do hope to get close if not equal. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo!
