I've always mounted my internal Yamaha CD-RW as an external device via SCSI
cable, preferring to keep the Apple CD-ROM drive just in case I reinstall
the
OS, initialize a new harddrive by booting off a system CD, or need to burn
direct to disc As such the CD-RW can playback music and video (via SCSI)
or I connect amplified speakers directly to the burner's audio out jack on
the front panel. I also share the same CDRW between several Macs and a PC
w/ SCSI card.
