Hi,
Just wondering if anyone could answer me a question. I have an external enclosure
that a CD rom was in. I took it out to replace an internal that went bad. Now I have
an internal hard drive that I was wondering if I could put in this case to make it
external????? They are both SCSI. Would there be any power supply problems ????
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, Pam
In my experience...
I've done this sort of thing several times with no problems.
In point of fact, right now, I've got an old Apple/Quantum(?) 250 MB hard drive duct taped (Yes. Duct taped.) into an ancient Apple external CD-ROM drive enclosure. Works just fine.
OK, as to why it's duct taped.
The drive has a plastic "sled" screwed onto it, in order to keep the exposed PC board from shorting out on the metal RFI shield in the enclosure.
But there's no way to secure the drive in the enclosure, I taped it into place. Just enough tape on the sides to hold in place and not affect airflow around the drive.
