If it starts and runs anything at all, it has a ROM. A Mac won't boot
without the routines stored in ROM. A LOT of Macs have a ROM slot in
addition to a ROM soldered to the logic board. Very seldom used, but most
likely intended for "future upgrades" that never happened.
