I have no idea how, but my 6500 won't seem to work properly anymore. Any attempt at a normal boot up gives an error 11, even when trying to boot off a system CD (both OS 8 and OS 9.1). I am forced to boot up without extensions and disable the Shared Library Manager PPC. The 6500 will now boot properly but, as everyone knows, almost nothing will run properly without the ASLM-PPC. Once I am actually booted into OS 8 or OS 9, if I run the System Profiler, the computer name only shows up as "Mac Compatible" and not "Powermac 6500" as it should.
There are no upgrade cards or anything of the sort. I have zapped the PRAM 7 times, reset the logic board, and installed a new hard drive.
When booting from CD-ROM try using DOCS (Delete-Option-Command-Shift). This should cause the HD to NOT be mounted at startup. If it works okay in this condition try updating the disk driver on the HD. I've seen it get corrupted and cause problems. It's an obscure problem as it can (like your problem) appear even if not booted off the HD. Also try rebuilding the desktop on the HD.
