Well it's been a couple of weeks now and I have been
busy and frustrated trying to add USB to my 7500. I
have upgraded to 8.6 and downloaded the spockets and
usb files from the Apple support site. The card I am
trying to use is a Belkin 2-port that claims to work
with Mac OS 8.6 and up. I have tried varios usb
devices: camera, tablet, mouse and card reader. The
software loads fine but no data from the card
transfers or no action on the wacom tablet. The card
shows up on the system profiler as a pci card but no
other info is recognized.

I had the same problem with a Belkin two port USB card.

I bought another card, this time from a gentleman here on the list and it works perfectly.

As I recall, MacAlly and Orange cards have been mentioned favorably here.

Make sure that the card is OHCI compliant before you buy it.

And after you get a working card, go and download USB Overdrive <http://www.usboverdrive.com> and pick up a multibutton/scrollwheel mouse.
