Before you give up on the usb card I would try installing it in another pci slot just to make sure it's a non compliant variety. After owning a PowerTower Pro 225 and 9500 with six pci slots you get used to changing things around to achieve working status fairly often! Now that I think about it ,I've had the same trouble with a few pee-cee's as well, problematic modems in particular. If they're not recognised a change can do wonders for irq conflicts and the like, so give it a try, can't hurt,unless you don't turn it off first of course! (but that's another story!!!)
