I currently have the original 2 GB Apple-ROMed Quantum SCSI-2 50 pin drive installed, and an additional IBM SCSI-2 UltraStar 50 pin 9 GB drive in the lower bay.
What is the cheapest route I could go? Keep in mind the 7300 only has 3 PCI slots, and I am currently using one of them, with another very soon to be filled by a USB card, leaving me with one PCI slot left.
Should I:
Get a ATA PCI controller and dump the SCSI drives, or at least one of them? Dump the 2 GB SCSI and replace it with a 9-10 GB SCSI? Get a FireWire card and an external FireWire drive? Get an external SCSI hard drive case and a 9-10 GB SCSI drive? Or??? Is there something I haven't thought of?
I have a hunch that old slow harddrives slows down the system - so I would dump the oldest to start with and get the PCI card ATA, I do not use a scsi myself inside, I put the scsi in an old external box, great for keeping virus clean and a backup system on and for carrying data between computers.
