Hi Wil. Can't help you with your CD burner problems but for the monitors to produce sound, you need a stereo cord with 1/8 inch stereo plugs on each end. Plug one end into the sound out jack on the Mac and the other into the sound in port located next to the A/C power connector on the back of the monitor (if these are Apple monitors). G'luck, mate.
