I run OS 9.1 on my 8500 with 448mb ram, G3-400 Sonnet card, ATA66 IDE/cdrom
Even an upgraded machine cant do 640x480 video capture, just 320x200 @
30FPS. You would need a fast hard disk and an addon video capture card (such
as a videovision PCi/Telecast) to get full screen captures, and if you go
this route you will need to use OS 8.1 or earlier to be compatible with the
obsolete hardware. OS 9.1 does run very stable on my unit.

I agree - I have a little less ram and a sonett upgrade and it can't capture video. Although my upgrade requires 9.1 and will crash and brake the disks with 8.6, my disks are all fast. Using 8.1 with the sonettcard will result in NO menues in the FINDER.
