Can anyone tell me what this "basement" mount is properly called so that I can begin searching for one ?

Adrian,

Take a look at this info on xlr8yourmac's site. On, I think it was the third page, it shows the black plastic "basement" section. That should explain it a little better. The basement in the 8600 and 9600 are pretty close to being the same.

I am using a double drive holder in the bottom of my 9600, that I got from Proline before they went out of business. It mounts to that plastic basement section nicely. A number of other folks still sell the two and four drive holders.

Nancy

Thanks Nancy. I wasn't aware of any of this. I think I'll try to get a drive or two in that area, but I want to use all of my slots. That's one of the main reasons I wanted a 9600. I might figure a way to make my own bracket.
