I assume that FileSharing is turned on, on the 8600 and that AppleTalk is not only on but set to the ethernet port in use ... yes?

I have a G4/400 (Gigabit ethernet) and a 8600 with a G3/300 card. The

connected to the same switch which is connected to my router.

I set Apple Talk to active on both of them, but the G4 doesn't seem to
be able to see the 8600. I even restarted the 8600 in OS 9, but they still
don't seem to be able to see each other. Even when I connected them
together with a cross over cable, it still didn't work. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
