They are both connected to a 8 port switch.  The up-link port of the switch
goes to a port on my 4 port router.  I have 8 systems sharing a DSL
connection.

Yes.  White-orange, orange, white-green, blue, white-blue, green,
white-brown, brown on one end.  White-green, green, white-orange, blue,
white-blue, orange, white-brown, brown on the other.
