Bought a new 18 GB Hard Drive. Did not "just go in" to my 7300! Too high for
the top bay. The bottom bay is fine for physical fit - but the ribbon
connection is different side to the standard 2 GB HD and so is the power
socket. Had to move the second power connector further back along the group
of 4 power lines (red, blk, blk, white). OK, it mounts and things seem fine,
but I am thinking maybe this is not such a good idea having two HDs like
this because .... feeling it, it gets real hot compared to the 2, 3, 4's I
have usually had and the bottom bay is right over the ram chips on the other
side of the metal! Am thinking of just getting along with the 18 GB (now
partitioned to suit), taking out the orig 2 GB and raising the new HD off
the floor, (I'll find a way). There's scarce room for fancy fans that will
be noisier anyways and 18 GB will be fine for me. Perhaps I worry
unnecessarily? 7300 and 7600 owners (and very similar) might care to
comment. The 7300 is a nice box to work on, but it is not so roomy.
