It's funny but I low level-format Mac drives (on a PC) that won't mount
with Drive Setup or with other Mac utilities. Once formatted by DOS it can
be initialized. SCSI drives are attached to an Adaptec 2940UW PC card and
reformatted by the card's own utilities (Control + A when prompted at
startup).

Since Drive Setup erases the drive's directory at initialization it would
be redundant to use a PC utility to wipe it out first.
