. My bugaboo is ANY pre-mutation of OS X BEFORE 10.3!!! I
personally think they all sucked!! I'm sure I'll catch MAJOR flack for
saying it....but *Pre-Panther* OS X was a basically worthless pile of
Garbage!!

Um, that's rather strong, especially considering that the differences between 10.2 and 10.3 are not all that huge, (using them on a daily basis).

What sucked so badly about them?
Hi......Bruce, I have a simple question. If 10.2.8 was good why is there a
10.3 (3.2) ??? I just find Panther's access speed and overall "feel" to be
superior in every way. And this is coming from someone who is a OS 9.2
"troglodyte" who is finally comfortable with the new-fangled OS. Mikie

I have to say, that is a silly question. To say that something is good does not say there is no way to improve on it, and when something is improved on it does not make past versions worthless. People play this logic game all the time and the answer is always a bit of BS.

"My G4 Dual 1.25GHz is crap now cause they released something faster" - that is like saying your TV picture got worse when a new, nicer TV was released. No, its the same stinking picture you had before.

Whether it is hardware or software something does not degrade when an improved version is released. And if something is good that does not mean it can't be improved on.

I have watched as each version of Mac OS X came out. With the Public Beta it was "wow, this will be awesome but there is a lot of work to be done." With 10.0 it was, "awe heck, well, I can do a little work on it and try some things out, but its really the lack of apps keeping me down." Then 10.1, "man that 10.0 was a second beta and the beta was really an alpha, this is not bad, I can work in this, its a good OS." So 10.2 comes along, "geeze, I don't know how anyone can think of using 10.1, nothing works, 10.2 is the way to go, Jag rocks!"

So now 10.3 is out and people will say Jag is garbage and 10.3 is the be all end all. Thing is, its not. Cause there will be future improvements. Mac OS 7.6.1 is my favorite version of Classic Mac OS, 8.6 after that and only because I need a lot of the stuff from it, 9.1/9.2.2. Before Mac OS X v.10.3 I was a huge Jag fan. What we like changes, nothing wrong with that, but what we had in the past does not change when the new stuff arrives ...
