A powermac on this list is considered a PowerPC based system, most
equipped with PCI slots.
  A G3 indeed is a form of a PowerPC, but a diffrent beast in alot of ways
starting with the beige series.

 Now, to the question... Yes, you can use a USB keyboard with the help of a
third party USB card and I believe OS 9 and up ( mabye 8.6 haven't used it
in awhile) And ofcourse it needs to be a keyboard made for a mac computer..
While you could plug in a PC-USB keyboard.. I don't think you would get to
far with it...
