I've sold a working pull IBM Ultrastar 36 gig drive to a swaplister, and he is having problems mounting it in his 9600. I quote:
"To be more specific on the drive: It spins up when the computer turns on,
but before Mac OS starts booting, the drive spins down. Whenever I try to
do things with Hard Disk Toolkit, it gives me an error about the device not
being ready. When I try to do anything within FWB Configure, I get an
error: "Drive not ready to perform this command, it may need to be
started."
Here is a screenshot he sent me, I've never seen this in system profiler: <http://cjbischoff.com/dumpster/john_screenshot.jpg>
Other than his main internal HD not being set to ID 0, this is identical to the working set up from my 9600. Could the first drive being set to ID 2 be causing the problems?
Referencing this page <http://www.hgst.com/hdd/support/dmvs/dmvsjum.htm> the jumpers are set at 2, 6, and 7.
Thanks much,
Chris
