Yes, people can learn to use filters instead of expecting the list and everyone else to change so as to accommodate them.
"I can't be bothered to do it so everybody should be forced to do things my way." It's either laziness, incompetence or arrogance. Take your pick.
You left out the people who won't change to an e-mail client that can do more than sort by Subject and who want things mucked up to accomodate them.
