I wasn't going to comment on this thread, but I for one think that its gone on far too long with no real results.
I'm subscribed to many different lists and am neither for or against the tags pasted at the beginning of the topic line. As long as I can get the emails and can filter if off: be it subject filtering (the [xxx])or address filtering (from the header) I'm happy. Since it seems to be a sore point with this list, would it be an idea to have a choice of tag or no tag when subscribing to it? As an example, when you first subscribe you're given a choice if you want all of the emails individually or sent to you as a digest. Would it be possible for system admins to write a similar script command where you can email a command either adds or removes the tag based on the user's opinion?
