Unplug the Cable modem before you turn on the 6400. The modem locks onto one computer ID at a time. You have to power the modem down so it forgets which computer ID it sees. Alternately you will need a router to use both machines on the same modem. If either machine is running OS-X then you can use it as a software router for the other machine.
