I use an off-the-shelf 36 gig Cheetah320 hooked to a 2940UW card on an 8500/G3-400. It seems to transfer gigabytes-long video streams faster than UltraATA133 drives via 133 ATA PCI cards even if the 2940UW maxes at 40 MB/sec transfers. I am quite pleased with 9.2.1 so I needn't move to OS X. (2940 is not OSX compatible).
