Absolutely. Not just "some" - most do it. It's the "approved" method of doing things, since the OS 8 days.


Somehow I have not experienced this. And have always thought of Mac OS as having a "protected " memory allocation.

The classic Mac OS has NO memory protection enabled. Any app can scribble anywhere it wants, any time it wants. Well behaved apps stay within their allotted pools tho. :)
