Man am I happy to hear this! I don't wish this on anybody, but I have been going through a similar experience, and my hair was coming out without my pulling it anymore! Did you purchase the drive from MacResQ? I just purchased (4) of the Western Digital 9.1 Gb drives ($9.99 ea) along with 4 80 pin converters ($8 ea) (they have both 50 pin and 68 pin connectors). After 3 days, I finally emailed MacResQ tech support. The MacResQ guy was sure it was a SCSI termination problem when I explained the scenario, and he emailed me back within about 15 minutes. I was very impressed. In the end, the problem was a Seagate drive that came with the machine that wasn't terminating correctly. When I added a new terminator to the line, I was able to complete all my installs and reboot reliably. Previously I was seeing the exact same symptom that you were: In my case, it was during the OS install, but it was reliably the same each time. I swear I must have gotten 90% through the install at least 20 times in the last 3 days. So, I guess the first thing I'd say is check your termination. Use something you are positive is good to terminate. If the problem still exists, try a different cable. After that, I don't know what to recommend. --> Russ -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
