I have just found out that it only does it when the ethernet connection is active. Unplug the ethernet cable _OR_ switch to an alternative active 56k dial-up connection and the hard drive activity stops. I did, in fact, update the firmware in the Netgear router/modem very recently but did not modify any of the settings. Any further ideas?
Open Transport updating its cache (dhcp lease timing, etc).
What's AppleTalk doing?
Or what 3rd party extensions do you have running?
