<1 GB storage, so nothing has to be deleted ever. They do their
googlishious thing to it, to characterize the email so they can hit
you with targetted ads. The ToS says the data won't be deleted even
after you close the account, etc. Apparently the ToS is messy enough
that it's gotten the attention of a lot of the privacy zealots,
including Congress. Lawsuits threatened, etc. AND, since Google is
preparing to IPO... there are some oversight and disclosure issues
being raised.>

Gads! Now I won't even consider GMail for any reason! Though I have to
say I'm really surprised Congress actually cares about citizen privacy.

<*nod* iCab has slowed down of late. Depends on the web site too.
Moz has it's speed issues too; abysmally slow to open new windows,
etc. I'm still using both browsers, about 50/50 now. What one has
problems with, the other seems to handle. Gettin the hang of using
Tabs. :)

Speed-wise, I guess I'm used to being on the low end of the MHz
scale. I do a lot of multi-tasking... Hand the browser a bunch of
URLs to load while I go check email or gab on IRC, etc. Keep the Mac
doing stuff in the background, then flip around to review things when
its all ready.>

Hmmmm. Well, I'll still have to try the Mozilla and the newer version of
iCAB. But I don't do much in the way of multitasking, so maybe I won't
tax my computer so much and speed will be less compromised.

<ew. Which email client?>

Claris Emailer.

<I've never had Eudora choke. But then again, for things over a few
MB, I tell people to either ftp or dcc.>

I won't use Eudora. The first time I tried it (I'd gotten it back in '95
with my first Mac) I had way too many problems with it, could never get
it up and running, not even with multiple phone consultations on
configuration with techs on my ISP. Unfortunately, that's so long ago
that I can no longer remember the specifics, only that I was tearing my
hair out of my head and on the verge of tears between calls to the techs,
for two weeks, LOL. I ran out one day to CompUSA, found and bought Claris
Emailer which, unlike Eudora, worked right away, no trouble at all
getting that set up and running. The only time I ever have a problem with
Claris Emailer is when someone sends me attachments of much over 1 MB,
which thankfully is really not that often. Eudora -- never again.
