I'll spare one and all the gory and irritating details of getting the 8.6 System folder copied to the "new" 1.6 GB hard drive via Apple Talk.

Once done, the installation was pretty much painless. OS 9 Helper worked perfectly.

Oddly, I had to delete and reinstall RAM Doubler in order to get it to work.

I took much delight in trashing the Outlook Express folder that was installed along with OS 9. We'll have NONE of that on any of MY machines!

Thanks to the Sonnet 400 Mhz G3 card in the L2 cache slot, OS 9.2.2 is every bit as peppy as is OS 8.6, even with RAM Doubler installed and operating.

The rest of the file transferring from the 8.6 HS to the 9.2.2 HD will occur this weekend.

And now to quote my favorite British diarist, Samuel Pepys:

"And so to bed."
