RAM Doubler is, IMO, a waste of time now. It was useful thru the early OS 8 days, when memory was expensive and Apple's VM was foo'd. But between OS 8.6 and 9, Apple fixed the VM performance issues, added the pagable sharelib support (that RAM Doubler doesn't support), and now RAM is cheap anyway... IOW, my Macs run faster and are more stable using Apple's VM. Probably worth trying on your set-up now...
Well, as I'm limited to 128MB (PowerMac 5500/225), as well as being limited to HD space once I get the 1.2 GB drive copied over (Maybe 25 MB free on the HD), I'll be sticking with RAM Doubler for a while longer. In my own experience, I've never had any problems I could trace to haveing RAM Doubler installed and running
I took the more-paranoid approach... I used the Custom install option on OS 9 and turned off ALL the MS items. So they never contaminated my HDs in the first place! :)
I was really honked off when I installed OS 8.6 for the first time. ALL that MS crap on the HD.
Now go check out some "OS 9 or later" apps! :)
Indeed. The current version of Eudora is on the to be downloaded list, if for no other reason that the Bayesian spam filters. There's also a version of AIM, the "new" Palm Desktop for Mac on the OS 9 disk, et al.
