Once done, the installation was pretty much painless. OS 9 Helper worked perfectly.

Congrats! :)

Oddly, I had to delete and reinstall RAM Doubler in order to get it to work.

RAM Doubler depends on a number of invisible files to operate and for copy protection. As I recall, they're created in the Installer.

RAM Doubler is, IMO, a waste of time now. It was useful thru the early OS 8 days, when memory was expensive and Apple's VM was foo'd. But between OS 8.6 and 9, Apple fixed the VM performance issues, added the pagable sharelib support (that RAM Doubler doesn't support), and now RAM is cheap anyway... IOW, my Macs run faster and are more stable using Apple's VM. Probably worth trying on your set-up now...

I took much delight in trashing the Outlook Express folder that was installed along with OS 9. We'll have NONE of that on any of MY machines!

I took the more-paranoid approach... I used the Custom install option on OS 9 and turned off ALL the MS items. So they never contaminated my HDs in the first place! :)

Now go check out some "OS 9 or later" apps! :)
