Apple is NOT going to expend the R&D or support money to support people who don't support their bottom line. That's a wise business solution for any millenium: concentrate on your *actual* customers, and selling widgets to new ones.

Somewhere along the line in developing the " Computer Age " common sense fell out the Windows and business philosophy took a nose dive.
Money is money no matter who's pocket it comes out of.. and many times the guy in the shabby jeans has more to spend than the guy in the Armani.

Only if he's buying.

I will buy a new computer in the next twelve months as I will be starting a business. The platform will be decided by who pi**es me off the least.

And you decry the loss of common sense in business philosophy. You should make the decision based on what would be most economic, in a TCO way for your business and what it needs to do.

People making business decisions based on emotional considerations are on a losing path.

Is it CPU hardware I see Apple promoting on TV every night no. I see iPod ads.

Gee, they're making buku bucks on the iPod

One might argue that mp3 players aren't their bread and butter either. But in truth they are rolling in the money from these things and glad of it. Undoubtedly they are trying to get us all on the master plan. But " more is more " is an economic fact since creation. They just don't see the " Big Picture " because sometimes even the brightest cannot see.

The problem is, that you can't have your cake (ancient systems and software) and eat it too (all the latest goodies) all on Apple's dime.

Mp3's aren't the latest goodies. Buying and selling on the web is not new anymore. Are you saying you can't get to the store by walking as well as driving ? That the store won''t take your money if you ride your bicycle there ?

There is NOTHING preventing you from using iTunes or MP3's on your OS 9 mac. The only thing Apple is 'depriving' you of is the iTMS.

My PCI Macs have capabilities not imbued by the creator does that mean we have sinned ?

Please, this is degenerating. Just because you don't want to upgrade, and will hold your breath until you turn blue doesn't mean that Apple will change their mind.

As they are steadily turning a profit, i can only assume that their business sense is not as daft as you make it out to be.

I didn't have to go through a utility tying me to the master plan to get Quicktime Pro . Why should getting an mp3 be like pulling impacted wisdom teeth ?

Because iTunes is *also* the mechanism for the DRM, and without that Apple doesn't get tunes to sell on the ITMS.

This list is for making our PCI Macs all they can be. Oem, third party 4th party support I don't care, Anything less is heresy.

Absolutely. Just don't whinge about Apple not doing it for you.
