I would just like to easily download some music. I don't care if it's from Apple or not I just want the freedom of picking mp3s at will without the constant jumping through hoops.
And I have found no way to do this.
Frankly, Apple's music store is a joke. These ACC files (MPEG-4, Advanced Audio Codec) they're foisting on us are crap. At the behest of the RIAA, they're mid to low quality, at best, when compared to a CD original. Most of the mp3's floating around are better (albeit a bit bigger)! Then there's the DRM rules that they keep changing! This register-unregister business - you paid for these tracks yet you have to kiss Apple's feet just to move 'em to another computer? What happens when Apple's store goes under (as all of Apple's services have after a few years)???
The alternatives? Other vendors, USENET, P2P, Ripping your own CDs, etc. Like anything, they're just a minor learning curve to get used to.
My current fav: http://music.download.com/ <== FREE.
