If it is the battery (in spite of date/time being fine), I might toy with
idea of making a little bundle of my seemingly OK spare batteries in
parallel and hooking up. A powerpack that might have that extra bit of zip
and steadiness, a sort of Superman battery pack for the 7600. Every time I
pull a Mac to bits to grab something or other and throw the rest out, I
collect yet another little bottle lithium battery... have a few now. They
all seem good from voltage tests.

thats just the point - it seems like the voltage test says nothing about the batterys functionnallity inside the mac,
don't misunderstand me of course a dead battery is dead, but there might be some other reasons within the
battery here. I have had batteries that voltmetered fine but still was makin problems.
