My battery testing criteria are actually a little more complex. Sometimes I put a small load on them to see what is happening... A crook one will quickly drop from that superficial high, seconds after the load is removed. The idea of a bundle in parallel is to tackle any little glitches in individual seemingly fine batteries, you know, one has a crook ankle and the others support him. No one has enough problems to bring the crew down. ... I make little theories to rationalise my long standing reluctance for new things... :) I will probably never actually do it, just swap the suspect one for a presumed innocent one. BTW, I discovered I had some software lying about that tests the battery called Polar Orbit Software PRAM Battery Checker v1.02. At first it looked simply absurd: it seems to simply note that the date and time is weird and alerts you! Obviously this is not very helpful to reasonably savvy Mac users. But, to be fair, as they say in their ReadMe "You may want to place it on your parents computers since it has been my experience that many parents arent computer savvy and will work through the problems caused by dead PRAM batteries as opposed to replacing them". David Elmo PS. No probs for last few days. My 7600 knows I have discussed it with you folk and is behaving for now... -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
