Recently, I've been asked to repair two Power Mac 8500s that power up but
fail to boot. On each machine, there's no boot sound, there's no launch from
the hard drive (it spins briefly and then stops), and the monitor remains
black.

I've checked the motherboard batteries (3.6-volt lithium) and they're both
good. Am I dealing in each case with a bad power supply?

Any suggestions and repair advice would be appreciated.
